I contacted Brian Rich, owner of Rich Concrete LLC, regarding expanding my driveway, replacing my sidewalk, pouring a patio off my deck in back of my house, and adding a small pad to park my 12-foot trailer. Brian made 3 trips to my house to discuss possible approaches to the project. After receiving several other bids, and paying for two builder's permits for which I'd submitted detailed plans, Brian and I agreed to go forward together.
We had an understanding of what I wanted, and Brian and his crew were great to work with. His crew consisted of Luis, Edel, Eric, and David with three other finishers helping on the two days we poured. Brian, Luis, Edel, and Eric discussed our vision for the back patio, evaluating different ways of dealing with the elevation change due to the slope of the ground in my backyard. Eventually, we reached agreement on how to form it up. The results are stellar.
The driveway and sidewalk were next. I had changed my mind several times about the driveway out of concern for the slope of the ground allowing dirt to wash onto it. The day before the pour, I told Luis and Edel that I wanted a curb along the north side of the driveway to block water. They started forming it up. That night, I was second-guessing myself that the curb would make access to my trailer in back more difficult. Next morning, I was waiting on Luis to change the curb plan. Luis was excited. He and Edel had poured elsewhere at 5:30 a.m. that morning before arriving at my house at 7:45 a.m. They'd made a sloping curb that made driving over the curb easy. It looks so nice.
They tore out the old treated landscape timbers in my flower beds and created concrete planters. They widened and graded the sidewalk to shed water. Luis set the forms so that most of the water drains to a drain area at the edge of the sidewalk. They sealed up and finished in a professional manner the area around the whistle in the right-of-way.
Unlike some of my experiences with contractors, Brian was easy to contact, returned my calls and messages, was on-site every day working and communicating with both customer and crew. He was flexible and, when I asked him to put the rebar on 18" centers rather than 24" centers, he readily accommodated the request, and added the small increase to my bill.
Of all the concrete contractors with whom I spoke, no one was as down to earth and patient as Brian. We are extremely pleased with the timeliness and punctuality of Brian's team. Brian figured the job would begin on Monday, August 4th, 2025, and end with final clean-up on Friday, August 8th, 2025. That's just what happened. Brian Rich and his crew at Rich Concrete LLC get 10 out of 10 stars. I will recommend them to family and friends.
